Rare Vintage OMEGA 1940s 9ct Gold Curved Tank Watch T17 Manual Wind Watch. This is a 9ct gold curved rectangular vintage Omega watch dating to the 1940s. The hinged case measures 20 x 37mm (including lugs) and is in an aged vintage condition (see pictures), with 16mm lug size. The inside case back is signed Dennison, Made in England and hallmarked at the Birmingham Assay dated 1940 and numbered 88937 & 48706. The silvered dial is beautifully aged and has black numbers and second track round the edge, with a subsidiary seconds dial, and fine blued steel hands. The dial is signed Omega above the centre and the crown is stainless steel. The rare T-17 movement is an Omega 15 jewel manual movement, with a protective cover which was introduced in the early 1930s to work with Omega’s excellent tonneau/rectangular shaped cases. The T-17 quickly gained a reputation for reliability and quality and today is one of the watchmaker’s most highly regarded vintage movements. This calibre was specially housed in a protective soft metal, anti-magnetic, movement cover as can be seen in the pictures. The watch comes on a used vintage black strap with gold buckle.
