1952 VINTAGE OMEGA CONSTELLATION CHRONOMETER. 18k GOLD AUTOMATIC MENS WRISTWATCH. #COSC # CALATRAVA # CELLINI. This is an early and rare (first year release) Omega Constellation watch with a “Pie Pan” case back in 18K solid yellow gold. It comes with the original 18K solid yellow gold bracelet and both the case back and the bracelet are marked 18K / 750 solid. As far as we have examined this watch has all its original parts intact apart from the crown and mainspring which have both been replaced. We have performed a full service, replaced the mainspring, cleaned and lubed with the factory approved Moebius 8213 imported especially from Switzerland. We have not done any cosmetic work to the watch and have only performed a strip down as part of a full service. It has only been cleaned and hasn’t been messed with or polished and it therefore retains all its original patina gained from the last 70 years of use. We understand collectors would prefer the watch in its original state with all the patina and wear, so that is how we have left it. It comes complete as-is without any box or papers and this is how we acquired it from an estate sale. Any marks, delamination and aging can be repaired and polished out, scratches can be gold filled and polished, and bracelet links tightened. Whether fully restored or worn as it is, this would make a superb and authentic period dress watch. The movement caliber 352 is the earliest in-house automatic self winding “bumper” caliber Omega ever produced. If you have never worn a bumper movement well it is quite an experience, almost like you can feel the watch “heart-beat” as you wear it. It is a very early Chronometer, which means it was tested to a higher level of accuracy than most watches from its era. The watch is working perfectly and back to the original factory recommended settings. Please study the photos and videos carefully as they form part of this description.
